Linda Troeller's photographs, taken over a period of ten years, are
more symbolic than descriptive; through a subtle use of color and blurred
motion, these images capture the human form in communion with water, in a state
of sublime, often ecstatic, immersion. For this work she won the 1999 Pictures
of the Year-Book Award of Excellence. Her most recent book, Erotic Lives of
Women, has won recent acclaim from The New York Times.
In Response to
the WTC, she opened Spa Picture Archive, providing her art, spiritual, spa
treatment slides from 1987 to present to publications for stories encouraging
healing water treatments for families of victims. Her recent commission from
Liquidrom Spa to open in Berlin features 24 mural size images in the role of
art in healing. In 2002 her photographs are in Aquaria, fifty artists on the
water archetype at the Landesmuseum, Linz, Chemnitz, Bologna.
