Fredericks, VIP Realtor in the famous Hamptons of Long Island, New York was
born in Berlin, Germany and went to a Montessori school where her parents had
started her with a wonderful teacher, Ernst Bulova. When Hitler came, they
'parked' her in an international school in London where Tina was supposed to
learn English and immigrated to New York. |

Tina's father was fortunate enough to land a great job with Hearst
Publications, preparing a picture magazine, which later turned into "Life".
Tina graduated from New Rochelle High School, and went to Bennington
College for two years, won a Mademoiselle College issue contest and realized
that she knew what it took to work on a magazine which had been her dream,
right along.
After a couple of years in Macy's display department Tina
got a job as assistant art editor of Glamour Magazine. When unfortunate
circumstances dictated her bosses departure, she inherited her job and became
the youngest art director at Conde Nast. Tina had wonderful opportunities to
work with top photographers and artists and was able to start many young people
on their careers- (Andy Warhol, Diane Arbus, Gordon Parks, Hiro, Maurice
Sendak, etc., etc.)
Ten years later the Ladies Home Journal lured Tina
to become their picture editor another chance to work with exciting creative
people on interesting material (monthly "How American Lives", Can this Marriage
be Saved?" serialized cover stories, personality profiles, beauty, decorating,
food, etc., etc.)
Tina Fredericks was married with two daughters and in
1950 the couple bought an old carriage house for week-ends on 2.5 acres on
Georgica Road, East Hampton for $6,500.00.
In the early sixties Tina
married a Doctor who was interested in Cancer Research. After a year of living
on site at Brookhaven Laboratories, the couple decided to move to East Hampton
and converted their summer cottage into a year round home, sending the children
to public schools. Unfortunately Tina's husband had severe drug and alcohol
problems and she was forced to find a job in the Hamptons.
Real Estate
seemed to be the only game in town and Tina soon realized that she enjoyed
being in the Hamptons in all seasons, meeting interesting people and designing
and building homes as a side line. She has built, moved, or renovated about
twenty houses and found herself challenged into developing Dune Alpin, a one
hundred and fifty acre horse farm, into a wonderful community that combined
co-ops modeled on potato barns, individual building sites and about fifty acres
of land preserved as large meadow areas and four miles of walking and riding
trails.
Over thirty five years in Real Estate have given Tina an
intimate knowledge of the market between Montauk and Southampton and intrigued
her with the inevitable changes and the efforts to keep the beauty and
lifestyles that have drawn so many people to the extraordinary shores.
Tina am now enjoying "her final folly"- a dream house she managed to
build on land she has owned for over twenty five years, overlooking Georgica
pond and the ocean. Tina's rapidly growing family, four grandchildren and two
dogs are happy that they can enjoy so much beauty together.
Indeed Tina
considers herself a most fortunate grandmother, who has ridden ups and downs
over a long period of time and hopes with all her heart that we do not destroy
our wonderful planet for future generations.
