American Dream Show Guest:
DEBBI HOLMES
Debbi Holmes is an American woman of Italian heritage. She was born in Brooklyn in 1958. At the age of 3 she started taking dancing lessons due to the influence of her grandfather who loved ballet and opera. Her family moved to Lynbrook, Long Island when she was 6 years old.

She enjoyed dancing at various dance schools throughout grammar school and high school, then went to New Paltz University to study liberal arts and discovered dance movement therapy.
She married David Holmes and moved to Montauk, New York in 1982, where they started a family and she worked on the fitness staff at Gurneys Inn. They have 3 beautiful children together, Sarah, Peter and Rachael. They bought their first home in East Hampton in 1984.

Debbi began her American Dream School "100 Miles Off-Broadway" in 1991, at that time a workshop in dance for children and adults at the Springs Presbyterian Church. 35 students enrolled. Within two years "100 Miles" had over 100 students attending.

In 1999 she began working for the Child Development Center, a school for special and regular ed students as their dance, yoga and theater teacher. In the summer of 2000 she had a lucky thing happen to her on the line of a local ice cream parlor. An attorney gave her good advice and guidance. As a result, it became a non-profit organization in August 2001.
